"On the Air," a combined Arcadia-Monrovia float entry in the 1940 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, featured a floral radio. Ten people rode on the float.
Looking west across Baldwin Avenue to southwest corner of Baldwin Avenue and Naomi at Shopping Bag Market. It operated here from the early 1940's to 1970.
One of the houses on the north cove of the lake at the Arboretum which was built for the filming of the movie "Road to Singapore," starring Bing Crosby, Dorothy Lamour, and Bob Hope. The house is up on stilts in the lake. The movie was filmed in 1940.
Paul and Selma Backert, who operated a dry goods store at 221 N. First Avenue from at least 1928 to approximately 1940. They came to Los Angeles area in about 1890 and operated general merchandise stores in Newhall and Lancaster. They lived at 212 N. Myrtle in Monrovia.
View east of the front of Santa Anita School, probably shortly after its opening, as shrubbery is small. This school was located at 1900 S. Santa Anita Avenue from about the late 1940s until June 1981. Santa Anita School was built on the site of the second school building built by the City, a two-room red brick building, built in 1913 to house grades 1 and 2. In 1982, Arcadia Christian School moved into this location.
House at 22 E. Foothill Blvd. It housed a dress shop called the Copy Cat from about 1967-1975. During the 1930's and a bit into the 1940's, it was operated as a popular family restaurant. Prior to the Copy Cat years (about 1952-1960), Rita Thompson had it as her real estate office.

Elias J. "Lucky" Baldwin Packing House which was located just north of Oakwood Hotel and beside Santa Fe Railroad tracks. Printing on the roof is announcement of Baldwin property for sale in Los Angeles, Arcadia, Monrovia and El Monte. On sides of building, the fruits and wines available are given. This photo belongs to the Huntington Library. It is shown here for research only.

Under the sign reading Brunswick tires and tubes on the left, is a group of five. Man with hat and cigarette is Mr. McLean. Man on extreme left is his helper. The offices here closed on April 4, 2014 and this building was demolished on July 7, 2014. The school district offices moved to a new location at 150 S. 3rd Avenue on April 4, 2014 and then opened to the public on April 14, 2014.
