About 4,000 Southern California Edison customers experienced some electrical service interruption on Tuesday due to thunderstorms. Affected cities included San Gabriel, Montebello, Rosemead and Arcadia.

Arcadia Apaches set the stage for historic CIF victory. For the first time in 40 years, Arcadia High School football team will go to the CIF-SS Division 8 championship game, by beating Alta Loma in the semifinals. Arcadia High School is already the champ of the Pacific League.
Arcadia celebrates its 100th birthday on August 5, 2003. The date reflects the anniversary of the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors certifying the results of the cityhood election. Elias J. "Lucky" Baldwin was talking about creating a city as early as 1886. He wanted to name the city Baldwin. On July 27, 1903, thirty-nine residents voted for cityhood.
The Arcadia City Council has awarded a $3.056 million contract to Pacific Hydrotech to build the St. Joseph Reservoir at Santa Clara and Second Avenue.
The Arcadia City Council has rejected the Asian Pacific American Legal Center's request that the city revoke a rule limiting the amount of space foreign languages can occupy on business signs. Councilman Robert Harbicht noted that the ordinance has been on the books for several years and the city has not received a single complaint about it.
Arcadia City Council honors Arcadia High varsity football. Fee reviews and regulations on sidewalk vending also discussed. Arcadia High School Apaches went undefeated in the Pacific League Championships for the first time since 2003. They went on to play the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Finals for the first time in 40 years. In the end the Apaches lost by 3 points. Arcadia Depot and Oakwood Hotel historical marker dedication January 26 at Arcadia Transit Plaza, the former site of Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railway's Arcadia Depot. It is the Arcadia Historical Society's 11th History Lives Here historical marker.
Arcadia gets new power provider Clean Power Alliance. Arcadia has selected lean power as the default for all customers. Lean power provides 36% renewable energy at a 1-2% discount. Southern California Edison will continue to provide billing and customer support.
