L-Line Extension. Claremont Councilman Ed Reece to chair light rail line board, the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority Board of Directors. The extension of the L-Line (formerly Gold Line) from Glendora to Pomona is 40% finished and scheduled for completion in early 2025. Reece will oversee the extension to Claremont and Montclair. The light rail line serves Arcadia, Pasadena, East Los Angeles and Los Angeles's Chinatown.
A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has ordered Arcadia developer MUR - SOL Construction to pay damaged related to the sale and remodeling of a home at 2780 E. California Blvd. in Pasadena, owned by Scott and Suzanne Bern.

Metro Gold Line Construction Authority agrees to pay $24 million for a commercial property in Monrovia, to be used as a maintenance yard for the Pasadena to Azusa light rail extension. The 4.5 acres of land, on the southwest corner of Evergreen and Shamrock Avenues, is owned by George Brokate of Excalibur Holdings.

Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority announced that structural work is complete for Gold Line Bridge over Interstate 210 Freeway. "The bridge can now stand on its own," said Construction Authority CEO Habib F. Balian. The bridge is a 584-linear foot, $18.6 million rail bridge that helps extend the Gold Line from Pasadena to Azusa, in this first segment.

Money from a $19.9 billion statewide transportation bond approved by voters in 2006 is being used for road improvement projects. A sculptural 584-foot Metro Gold Line bridge, that will span the eastbound 210 Freeway, is under construction now. The $18.6 million bridge will be a dramatic gateway to the San Gabriel Valley. The bridge builder is Skanska USA Civil. The bridge's design concept of Native American baskets was designed by artist Andrew Leicester. The bridge should be completed in summer 2012. The bridge will have a built-in technology that can gauge damage to underground pilings after an earthquake. The entire 11.5 mile eastward Gold Line Foothill Extension through Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale and Azusa is due to be finished in 2015.
A senior housing apartment complex at 16 Campus Drive in Arcadia will create 250 jobs. The 43-unit complex will have spacious one-and two-bedroom apartments. Ashwood Construction and Davila Properties are the developers.

Tonight Arcadia City Council will explore building a new $12 million City Hall after the proposal was shelved in 2009 for financial reasons. The existing City Hall is undergoing a $2.3 million renovation and remodeling that includes a new heating and air conditioning system, energy efficient windows, new wiring, carpeting and painting. If Council moves forward with new building, the existing one could be used as a community center.
