Arcadia's Senior Olympian Sarah Sneider wins gold in the Huntsman World Senior Games. 10,000 athletes from 64 nations in 33 sports competed at St. George, Utah.
Harry Sneider and his wife Sarah Sneider, of Arcadia, are leaders in physical fitness for senior citizens. Sarah Sneider recently won 10 gold medals in the 2011 San Gabriel Valley Senior Olympics.
Arcadia couple Harry and Sarah Sneider are fitness trainers. Harry is 69 and Sarah is 66 years old. They say that fitness icon Jack LaLanne, who died last week at the age of 96, was their personal inspiration and friend, whose motivation encouraged them to expand their training business and better inspire others to reach their fitness goals.
Taiwanese octogenarian senior citizens end 3-day motorcycle ride from San Jose to Arcadia's Westfield Santa Anita mall promoting "Go Grandriders," a documentary film now playing in Monterey Park. Hondao Senior Citizens Welfare Foundation sponsored the motorcycle trek to eradiate the stereotype that old people are slow.
Evanne Elizabeth Friedmann was crowned the 93rd Rose Queen by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses President Jeffrey Throop. She is a seventeen year old La Canada High School senior and will reign over the 122nd Rose Parade. Rose Princesses on the Royal Court are Tatyane Anaid Berrios of Arcadia High School, Sarah Frederickson of Maranatha High School, Jessica Montoya of Flintridge Preparatory School, Tenaya Senzaki of Pasadena High School, Kathryn Thomson of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy and Michelle Washington of Pasadena City College.
Gold Line Bridge wins prestigious architectural design recognition from ArchDaily in its Top 100 Projects of the last decade. The "bridge baskets" were designed by artist Andrew Leicester.
