Arthur Tucker, former Arcadia school administrator, died September 15 after a long bout with cancer. Tucker served as Principal at Holly Avenue, Highland Oaks and Camino Grove Schools.

Revisiting Anita Baldwin. Margaux Viera (photo) of Riverside, the great-great-great granddaughter of Arcadia founder Elias J. "Lucky" Baldwin, has unexpectedly come into possession of some personal items that belonged to Anita M. Baldwin, the only daughter born to Lucky Baldwin and his third wife, Jane Virginia Dexter. The items were discovered by a farmer on a rural, central Nevada ranch once owned by the Baldwin estate. The items include Anita Baldwin's daily journal from 1935, a gold calligraphy pen and Art Deco glass bottle used as an inkwell, an address book with her name and signature, a leather passport holder with her name and a wallet containing several of her identification and membership cards. Construction begins on Anoakia luxury housing development, on the former site of Anoakia, Anita Baldwin's mansion, on the corner of Baldwin Avenue and Foothill Boulevard in Arcadia. The Anoakia Mansion was demolished last August to make way for 31 homes to be built by Hover Development Inc. of Newport Beach. Anita Baldwin, daughter of Lucky Baldwin, lived there until her death in 1939. It was used as a girls' school from 1941 to the late 1970s. The new housing development is 19 acres.

Arcadia city council accepts gift of a bronze statue of Elias J. "Lucky" Baldwin, founder of Arcadia, from his descendant Margaux Viera. Article erroneously states that she is the granddaughter of Elias J. Baldwin. In her proposal to the City of Arcadia, she states that she is the great-great-great-granddaughter of Baldwin.
Special events to be featured at the second annual Lucky Baldwin Day Community Picnic on October 27 include sack races, a spelling bee, and pumpking carving contest. The highlight will be the drawing to select a boy or girl to ride on the city's Rose Parade float.
A 1927 bust of Anita Baldwin, hidden away in storage at the Arboretum, is on exhibit at the Arcadia Public Library along with photographs of Anita, examples of her musical scores, poetry and cookbook.
Rosalie Dunham, who moved to Arcadia 10 year ago, is the Senior Citizen of the Year. After the death of her husband 8 years ago, she and her friend Marilyn Morrison began Starting Over, a group for people who have suffered a loss. She also started a follow-up group called Branching Out.
