New El Rancho Building, a 2-story store and office affair, located at 1200 W. Huntington Drive, is nearing completion, with occupancy expected in March. Rancho Santa Anita, Inc. are the owners of the new building. Architect is Rowland H. Crawford.
The upcoming marriage of Phillip Walter Kelly, of Arcadia, and Levonne Virgene Kisner, of Fullerton will be broadcast on the program "Bride and Groom" on February 23.
Mrs. Ola Sullivan, who's husband J. H. Sullivan has been in charge of the restoration of the Queen Anne cottage, presented a talk to the Arcadia Woman's Club on "The History of Nails." She gave each member in attendance a hand-wrought iron nail and piece of wood from the original Queen Anne Cottage, bound together by ribbon.
A short story called "The Bipartisan Blond" by Arcadia author Hannah Smith appears in the September Ladies' Home Journal. She published a book called "For Heaven's Sake" about three years ago.
Arcadia man tells of submarine service. Lieutenant Commander Charles F. Schermerhorn of Arcadia, an executive officer of Submarine Division 11-6, announced new era in the Naval Reserve program, with an additional submarine division that includes maintenance and repair of operationg fleet-type submarines.
