Three women were violently robbed in a span of a week in the 99 Ranch Market parking lot at 1300 S. Golden West Avenue. In two of the incidents, a passenger leaned out of a car to grab purses, and in the other incident, two men pushed a woman to the ground, kicked her in the face and stole her purse.
Santa Anita Park has apologized for dumping 15,000 gallons of waste water containing manure, straw and other items into the Arcadia wash two months ago.
Residents of E Monte say they're frustrated over plans for an all-nude 18-and-over club opening in Arcadia in a few months. the club, called Golden Eyes, will be within 1,000 feet of an El Monte residential neighborhood.

A food distribution center sponsored by the Presbytery of San Gabriel should open its doors in Arcadia on September 15, the first step in providing more complete care for the homeless and hungry in the mid-San Gabriel Valley. The temporary distribution point will be at Village Presbyterian Church of Arcadia, 2733, 10th St.

Dale Paul Raine, 30, received the Mayor's Certificate of Commendation for helping to stop the attempted kidnapping of two 16-year-old girls near his home on Golden West Avenue.
Arcadia-based J. Foley Enterprises, owner of Clearman's Village shopping center at Huntington Drive and Rosemead Boulevard, has proposed building a Kohl's Department Store and refurbishing the Galley Restaurant (The Boat). Residents have complained to the County Planning Commission about the potential blocked view of the San Gabriel Mountains and increased traffic.
Arcadia Methodist Hospital has been accused of dumping homeless patients on Los Angeles' Skid Row. A hospital representative said it is compliant with the anti-dumping law, Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act, and has done nothing illegal. The two alleged dumping incidents involve homeless patients Hector Salazar and Therese LaBossiere.
Looking west on Duarte Road near intersection with Baldwin Avenue. Ericsson's Pharmacy is listed at 1201 S. Baldwin. West Arcadia Public Market was owned by Mr. C.M. Knott and was located at 1203 S. Baldwin. The new building under construction here on S.E. corner apparently at 1200 S. Baldwin was for the Bank of Italy National Trust & Savings according to 1928 City Directory.
