"El Camino Real," Arcadia's float entry in the 1967 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade. Father Serra, founder of historic California missions, is shown traveling the famed thoroughfare. Arcadia's Queen, Christine Ramos, graces the throne. The scroll is covered with yellow chysanthemums, gladioli, orchids and roses. A framed copy of this removed from wall outside Admin. office and currently stored in map case in basement, as of February 2017.
Thirty six students from First Avenue School (probably 5th graders) are pictured. We do not know which students in photo belong to which name. Some have not been named at all.

Next street east is First Avenue, then Second Avenue, the Fourth Avenue. Reservoir is at corner of Valnett Avenue and Second Avenue and was owned by Walnut Grove Mutual Water Company (Valnett Avenue was first through street south of Duarte Road at this time and became Camino Real).

View east shows two balloons aloft over Arcadia and San Gabriel Valley. It is possible that first river up from bottom of photo is Rio Hondo Wash. Some of trees along Santa Anita appear to be in extreme lower right of photo. Tree-lined street showing in extreme lower left of photo is Duarte Road. Second river coming into photo about five inches up from bottom of photo would be San Gabriel River.
Aerial looking west from a position just east of First Avenue and just north of Wheeler Avenue. Large white barn-like roof is San Gabriel Valley Lumber Co. building. This later became the Sawmill Restaurant and in the early 1990's became Sports Rock Cafe. Directly opposite, is cleared land where Arcadia Public Library, Fire and Police were previously located. Today there is a Medical Building on the site (65 N. First Avenue). Santa Anita Park and parking lot are seen in the distance.
Looking east over barracks and main building at Ross Field. Tree-lined street cutting across photo at far side of field is Santa Anita Avenue. The oval of the race track built by E.J."Lucky" Baldwin and which opened in 1907 can clearly be seen on right. Broad E/W street seen on far left is Huntington Drive.
Aerial view looking west over Santa Anita Park. Photo was taken from about over intersection of Colorado Place and Huntington Drive. Note area that was to become Los Angeles County Arboretum across top of photo. Note an open Grandstand has been added to the west of original covered one. There is a small dirigible in lower right corner carrying a sign that seems to read:modern motel. Present Baldwin Avenue would run where road in this photo is seen parallel to top of photo.
Aerial view north up Santa Anita Avenue. Note Chantry Flats Road on mountain near right side of photo. This view was taken from just south of Huntington Drive. This image belongs to Arcadia Historical Society.
Main road crossing photo east to west in top third of photo is Huntington Drive. The main street running North/South in right portion of photo is Rosemead Boulevard. Wash running North/South is Eaton Wash. Very little in this view is of Arcadia.
Santa Fe Railroad tracks cut diagonally across photo from east to west. Huntington Drive bisects photo from east to west approximately at center of photo. Arcadia County Park appears in lower left corner, showing baseball diamond. Santa Anita Wash is shown on right side of photo.
Aerial view of what appears to be either an informal horse show or possible horse sale with a great number of people in attendance. The location has been identified as near intersection of Las Tunas Drive and (with what seem to be railroad tracks in center) Temple City Boulevard. The building (we see only roof) in the lower left corner is Vernon's Pharmacy. The letters VGS can be seen over front entry. There are probably about 100 autos parked nearby. (There is another photo of this event, #539.)
Duarte Road running east-west intersects the middle and a small portion of Santa Anita Park parking lot visible in the upper left. Enlargement of a section of photo ID 617.
