Teacher Brandon Michael Landreth, 30, of Pasadena, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Pasadena Superior Court. He allegedly confessed to his ex-wife that he shot 25-year old Justo Cesar Morales to death at his parents' Canyon Road home in Northern Arcadia.
Arcadia warns empty-home owners: non-compliance subject to "summary abatement." This is the largest overhaul of abatement regulations since they were imposed on the City in 1972. On March 12, Superior Court Judge Norman Douds ordered El Monte to allow San Gabriel Valley Water Company to dig up El Monte streets to install water lines to a Public Storage building partially located in Arcadia.

Tonight Arcadia City Council will explore building a new $12 million City Hall after the proposal was shelved in 2009 for financial reasons. The existing City Hall is undergoing a $2.3 million renovation and remodeling that includes a new heating and air conditioning system, energy efficient windows, new wiring, carpeting and painting. If Council moves forward with new building, the existing one could be used as a community center.

Arcadia City Council postpones decision on 1217 Mayflower Avenue home construction project. Scott Yang of Figure 8 Group Inc. seeks to replace a one-story 988 square foot ranch style house built in 1923 with a 5046 square foot home in the "modern" architectural style. In June, Planning Commission denied Yang's project.

The Metro Blue Line Construction Authority is working to create a joint powers agreement to oversee the construction of the transit line extension from Pasadena to Claremont, with participation from cities along the planned route. That would include Arcadia and Monrovia.
