John W. Grainger, in a Chevrolet coupe, led Arcadia police on a high speed car chase that ended in a crash. An opened wine bottle was found in his car.
Richard Dana intermediate school to open doors for first time. It is the second educational plant serving 7th and 8th grades, the other being First Avenue School. Dana's first principal is Joseph Bagnall. The modern school was designed by Boyd Georgi and Lee Kline, the same architects who planned the buildings at Camino Grove Elementary.
