The El Segundo-based chain is losing money and Tesco has hired investment bank Greenhill to review options. Fresh & Easy has 200 stores in California, Nevada, and Arizona. There is a store in Arcadia (on Foothill Boulevard).

The new Hughes El Rancho has been opened on the site occupied for 33 years by the old El Rancho Market. Hughes acquired the El Rancho chain in March 1979. The original market and four neighboring shops were razed to make room for the new structure.
