View looking south down Santa Anita Ave. from a point just where road starts up toward Chantry Flats. Note that eucalyptus trees have been removed from Santa Anita and present plantings are still very small. As of 1980, houses fill land shown in foreground of the photo.
View from back yard of Ramuz family home on Arcadia Ave. looking north toward San Gabriel Mountains. (Later they would build home on South Santa Anita in conjunction with their business, The Arcadia Nursery.) There are two small houses, one on left is still under construction. Just to left of center is a power pole. Line of eucalyptus in background apparently was along Huntington Drive.
View north toward mountains and Chantry Flats Road. From vicinity just east of Santa Anita, where present Orange Grove intersects, showing orange groves. An open field apparently planted to grain and having a large oak tree, would be present site of Highland Oaks School. Eucalyptus trees lining Santa Anita are on left in photo, this property belonged to Harry and Hattie Ainsworth.

These two long buildings appear to be buildings at the Balloon School. They have been left from the time that "Lucky" Baldwin's Santa Anita Race Track was on this site. There is considerable snow on San Gabriel Mountains behind.
View north from present Huntington Drive up Santa Anita Avenue. Eucalyptus trees on either side appear to be about 60 feet tall. Surface of street seems to be dirt.
View east shows two balloons aloft over Arcadia and San Gabriel Valley. It is possible that first river up from bottom of photo is Rio Hondo Wash. Some of trees along Santa Anita appear to be in extreme lower right of photo. Tree-lined street showing in extreme lower left of photo is Duarte Road. Second river coming into photo about five inches up from bottom of photo would be San Gabriel River.
View north and a bit west toward San Gabriel Mountains over the enormous warehouse under construction on the infield of the track at the Santa Anita Assembly Center for the Japanese. Highest white buildings visible in left third of photo is Passonist's Father's Monastery in Sierra Madre.

Photographically reproduced copy of an old newspaper photo taken in 1936 which is an aerial view looking north west over original race track built by Baldwin. In lower right corner can be seen Santa Anita Ave lined with Eucalyptus. On lower left, one can see present Campus Drive. Across top third of photo, one can see Huntington Drive. Note how small the trees are that line the street.
Photo of Queen Anne Cottage taken from approximately 75 feet from front steps. There is a sign to the right of stairs on eucalyptus tree reading:This Eucalyptus tree is the tallest on Rancho Santa Anita.
Aerial view taken from about over what became Campus Drive and Arcadia High School, and looking toward (NW) Pasadena and Sierra Madre at foot of San Gabriel Mountains. Photo shows Santa Anita Park Race Track possibly just a few years after opening.
Santa Anita Santa Fe Station photographed from south side of Colorado Blvd. There is a man standing near extreme left edge of photo. Gates with a red STOP sign are to keep unauthorized persons from driving across tracks and then up to Foothill Boulevard for a "short cut."
Cook & Woodley tract just north of Foothill Blvd. and one block east of Santa Anita Ave. This tract was developed on land owned by Clara Baldwin. House seen on right still stands at SE corner of Sycamore and Oakwood Ave. It was home of James B. Slemons.
Santa Anita Race Track seen from a distance. View is toward the north. The San Gabriel mountains are visible behind the track. Cars are parked in the parking lot.

Cedar Walk on Ranch. Hugo Reid Adobe appears to be directly at the end of this walk. Note bell from San Gabriel Mission hanging in shelter made for it. Framed photos are of Baldwin's three hotels: Tallac at Lake Tahoe, Baldwin Hotel & Theater, San Francisco, and the Oakwood, Arcadia.
