"A Day at the Fair," Arcadia's 1969 float entry in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, featured spectators in the grandstand cheering, horses speeding down the homestretch during a day of racing at the fair. In front is a floral fountain. In the center is a revolving tableau with a peacock. This appears to be intersection of Las Tunas and Temple City Blvd. Building seen at top of photo is probably Vernon's Pharmacy of Temple City, located on NW corner of this intersection. There is a companion photo to this photo, #643. Vera Van Iaawarden, who lives in Temple City, says her father believes this was a balloon ascension.

The location has been identified as near intersection of Las Tunas Drive and (with what seem to be railroad tracks in center) Temple City Boulevard. The building (we see only roof) in the lower left corner is Vernon's Pharmacy. The letters VGS can be seen over front entry. There are probably about 100 autos parked nearby. It shows Santa Anita Fashion Park (currently known as Westfield Santa Anita Shopping Mall) developed by and on property owned by Santa Anita Consolidated. The Santa Anita Park Race Track and club house can be seen in center of photo. The straight white line about one inch above the club house roof is 210 Foothill Freeway. Chantry Flats road can be seen going up into San Gabriel Mountains in distance.

"Arcadia Salutes Australia's Waratah's Festival," Arcadia's float entry in the 1970 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, features an abstract free-form reminiscent of an English coach. At the forefront is a royal blue peacock. To the rear are kangaroos, koala bears and lyre birds. Arcadia's first school building built expressly for a school; a two room building. There are about fifty youngsters standing on stairs leading to front door. Sign over door reads Arcadia. It was on site of present First Avenue School and the address was 1170 S. First Avenue.

Automobile accident on unknown street, believed to be in Arcadia, CA. People and police stand near the scene of the car crash, while traffic lines the opposite side of the street. Police appear to be filling out paperwork, and a man pushes a broom to clean up debris. See also 1783.
Bali House through the jungle in the north shore at lake at the Arboretum. Part of set for the filming of "A Honeymoon in Bali," starring Madelene Carrol and Fred McMurray. Originally it was to be named "Are Husbands Necessary." Directed by F.H. Griffith, June-July, 1939. Gate shows in front of photo with house in rear. Part of house on right side of photo is draped with what looks like a black cloth.
