Aerial view west toward Santa Anita Ave. from above First Avenue, site of new grammar school. Long driveway heads to Jaspar N. Teague home in center of 10 acre orange grove. (Address in City Directory for this name is 1380 S. Santa Anita.) House to left and south was that of Charles W. Stewart in another 10 acre plot. Both ranches are now occupied by First Avenue Junior High School.
Aerial view toward NE. Plane is over property of Charles W. Stewart (10 acres), and Jaspar Teague (10 acres), at 1320 S. Santa Anita Avenue, which is directly under the plane. Next street east is First Avenue, then Second Avenue, the Fourth Avenue. Reservoir is at corner of Valnett Avenue and Second Avenue and was owned by Walnut Grove Mutual Water Company (Valnett Avenue was first through street south of Duarte Road at this time and became Camino Real).
Looking SW from mountains north of Arcadia. Major tree-lined street running from mountains south is Santa Anita Avenue. Southernmost tree-lined street cutting across entire middle of photo is Duarte Road. Barracks at the Balloon School can be seen just below Huntington Drive. Notice that Huntington Drive stops just west of the Balloon School, at the Baldwin Ranch. Much of Foothill area was planted to citrus.
Cuccia Peach orchard, 60 acres from Lovell to Holly Avenue and Leroy to Norman. Shows one man on ladder picking in grove; one man standing picking; boxes of fruit.
Church of Transfiguration is now located where this view shows. Path in photo is First Avenue of today. Shows what appears to be orchard and possible strawberry patch on left side of photo between First and Second Avenues.
Spring 1935. Santa Anita Rancho field crops of many varieties were grown. View is toward the north. San Gabriel mountains completely across the photo. Chantry Flats Road visible at right side. White barn prominent in center of photo.
Aerial view looking east into Arcadia from near intersection of Rosemead Boulevard and Colorado Boulevard. Eaton's Santa Anita Hotel and Restaurant is still seen at far end of curve on south side of Colorado Boulevard and Michillinda Avenue (this is present site of Coco's Restaurant and Oak Tree Banquet Room, formerly Reuben's Restaurant, address 1150 W. Colorado Boulevard). The Santa Fe Railroad Tracks are seen just north of Colorado Boulevard. Large clear area in upper right portion of photo is Santa Anita Park Race Track.
Aerial view of what appears to be either an informal horse show or possible horse sale with a great number of people in attendance. The location has been identified as near intersection of Las Tunas Drive and (with what seem to be railroad tracks in center) Temple City Boulevard. The building (we see only roof) in the lower left corner is Vernon's Pharmacy. The letters VGS can be seen over front entry. There are probably about 100 autos parked nearby. (There is another photo of this event, #539.)
Aerial view south from Chantry Flats Road over the still-developing upper Highlands section of Arcadia. View is across Arcadia toward the Puente Hills. Santa Anita Park Race Track is seen in the center. Santa Anita Wash is seen on extreme left.
