Phase I of Library Renovation/Expansion project at 20 W. Duarte Road. This view shows drainage pipe used to drain water from roof during the rains of winter 1996. The book trucks covered the pipe, which ran all the way out the temporary front doors into what used to be the Children's Room patio. The area behind the book trucks was the sorting area. A young woman is standing looking at books shelved along the plywood wall. To the right are the photocopy machines.

A six-sided, hexagon building near Santa Anita Church is the Fireside Room and Fellowship Hall, which is part of the Santa Anita Church. The church property goes all the way to Colorado Place (including "The Village Apartments," formerly the Frontier Motel, which the church purchased in 1972) and includes the parking lot and the building at the top of the photo, the Margaret Stevens Center. Serbian Orthodox Church of Christ the Savior at 1424 S. Baldwin Avenue. This congregation bought property from the American Lutheran Church (later became Lutheran Church of the Cross) in 1963. View is taken from west side of Baldwin, facing entrance. Note 9-17-2008: The 1963 date of sale is not certain as the 1964-65 city directory has the Lutheran Church of the Cross still occupying 1424 S. Baldwin Avenue. Lutheran Church of the Cross moved into a new building in June, 1965 according to item #15 in the Arcadia - Churches VF, so the building may have changed hands in 1965 - (Yvonne Ng).
