Almost vacant lot on northwest corner of Wheeler Avenue and First Avenue is where Sawmill Restaurant was built in about 1977 (Sawmill Restaurant closed in early 1990's). Foundation work on South side of Wheeler Avenue at corner of First Avenue is for medical building which became 65 N. First Avenue. (Former site of Arcadia Public Library until 1961.) Post Office is largest building in center of the block on north side of Wheeler Avenue. Large white area is parking area for Santa Anita Park Race Track.

Santa Anita Avenue is north/south street, dark with trees approximately one inch from left edge of photo. Arcadia County Park is at upper left edge of photo with baseball diamond showing.

The oval of the race track built by E.J."Lucky" Baldwin and which opened in 1907 can clearly be seen on right. Broad E/W street seen on far left is Huntington Drive.

Main north/south running street to right of center is Michillinda Avenue. Oval adjacent to Michillinda Avenue is Elias J. "Lucky" Baldwin's training track. Lower right corner of photo is abandoned project of Anita Baldwin and Joe Smoot, c. 1933 (about where May Company was and where Vons, a Safeway Company, Southern California Division Headquarters is now, at 618 Michillinda Avenue). Street running east/west across center of photo is present day Colorado Boulevard. East/west-running street near top of photo is present Foothill Boulevard.
