A copy of this photo appears in the March 2, 1909 Los Angeles Daily Times pt.II p.8 with the following identification: FAMILY GROUP ON THE LAKE AT SANTA ANITA. Left to right, in boat - Mr. Mathews, Mrs. F.D. Black, Mr. Stocker ("Lucky's son-in-law), Mrs. H.C. Wyatt, in white; Mrs. Stocker (Lucky's daughter) and Mrs. Scott. There are seven people seated in the boat, but only six names are identified in the newspaper article. Article is in Arcadia History file Baldwin, Elias J. Elias J. "Lucky" Baldwin on left and Richard F. Carman Sr., one of America's early horsemen. Photo was taken probably about 1907 and printed in newspaper of March 1937 at the time of Carman's death. Carman's horses won four races and placed second in two others on opening day of Baldwin's Santa Anita Race Track.
A large group is pictured sitting or standing near entrance to Sturtevant Camp dining room. (Camp was one of many in San Gabriel Mountains; it was up Big Santa Anita Canyon.) In back row, on left, man in dark shirt and tie next to pillar, is John C. Juvinall of Monrovia.

Santa Anita Park Race Track just right of center at south edge of photo. Oval to the left of Santa Anita Park Race Track was training track which was removed to make room for Santa Anita Fashion Park (currently Westfield Santa Anita Shopping Mall). Street just to left of training track is Baldwin Avenue. Huntington Drive and Colorado Place form a "y" just east of Santa Anita Park Race Track. Along both can be noticed the conifer trees planted a few years earlier. Street completely bisecting photo just below center is Foothill Boulevard, next one is Orange Grove Avenue. Santa Anita Avenue is partially in view on right edge of photo. Oval on extreme lower left side of photo is old Baldwin training track. Wesley Davies (Manager Rancho Santa Anita, Inc.), and Superintendent Leonard J. Roach. Davies is seen handing deed to 111-acre tract of historic Rancho Santa Anita to Superintendent Darby. This was to be developed into the Arboretum.

This photograph was published in the Arcadia Tribune, August 20, 1956 with the caption: Here comes mama--By all indications from this picture, it looks as if the children weren't the only ones who were having a good time at the recent Arcadia Recreation Department city-wide track meet. The Tribune camera caught Mrs. Mary Turner as she broke the tape in the "feature" race of the afternoon. Running a close second in the event is Mrs. John Panatier followed across the finish line by Mrs. Lucas.

Santa Anita School Mrs. Rutherford's fifth grade classroom photo by Thompson Photo Service, Los Angeles (from the envelope which has been discarded). The school was located at 1900 South Santa Anita Avenue from about 1950 until June, 1981. In 1982, Arcadia Christian School moved in to this location.
