Along both can be noticed the conifer trees planted a few years earlier. Street completely bisecting photo just below center is Foothill Boulevard, next one is Orange Grove Avenue. The incomplete oval in upper left is the race track that Anita Baldwin and Joe Smoot attempted to build in 1933 but abandoned the project. Huntington Drive and Colorado Place form a "y" just east of Santa Anita Park Race Track. Note grove of olive trees on land where City Hall is located today (240 W. Huntington Drive, Arcadia). Baseball diamond in upper right corner of photo, just below the convergence of the "y" is at Arcadia County Park. Corrected description as of 11/04/2008.

Wesley Davies (Manager Rancho Santa Anita, Inc.), and Superintendent Leonard J. Roach. Davies is seen handing deed to 111-acre tract of historic Rancho Santa Anita to Superintendent Darby. This was to be developed into the Arboretum.

"Hot dog and bun," the Santa Anita Village float entry in the 1950 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, featured a 12 foot hot dog. In front is a beach scene with three girls. One girl is Marilyn Meyers (later Barilotti).

Standard Oil drilling rig set up near Daines Dr. at Live Oak Park. Standard was given permission to drill in summer of 1970. Drilling went on for several months and when the well proved dry, the rig was dismantled (this probably is in Temple City).
"Arcadia Salutes Australia's Waratah's Festival," Arcadia's float entry in the 1970 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, features an abstract free-form reminiscent of an English coach. At the forefront is a royal blue peacock. To the rear are kangaroos, koala bears and lyre birds. A framed copy of this removed from wall outside Admin. office and currently stored in map case in basement, as of February 2017.
