House at 180 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia, located just north of the municipal athletic field adjacent to Arcadia City Hall. It was part of the Le Meridien hotel land but is being sold Salvation Army and moving to Pasadena. In the year 2000 this was the location of Oakcrest Adult Rehabilitation Center. In this photo, notice its house numbers in disrepair. See document "State Wars on Bookies." A house at 180 West Huntington Drive in Arcadia was raided and four men were arrested who were using binoculars to catch the race results and flashing them to bookmakers throughout the nation. View north east across Huntington Drive to Carpenter's Santa Anitan, a drive-in restaurant located at 125 W. Huntington Drive. It opened on Nov. 11, 1939 and remained a popular eating and gathering place for many years.

Oval to the left of Santa Anita Park Race Track was training track which was removed to make room for Santa Anita Fashion Park (currently Westfield Santa Anita Shopping Mall). Street just to left of training track is Baldwin Avenue. Huntington Drive and Colorado Place form a "y" just east of Santa Anita Park Race Track. Along both can be noticed the conifer trees planted a few years earlier. Street completely bisecting photo just below center is Foothill Boulevard, next one is Orange Grove Avenue. Home and office of Dr. Fletcher Sanborn on NE corner of First and Wheeler. Note his professional sign on the lawn. There is chicken-wire fence showing in front. This house had many lives; its last was home for H.O.Y. Clinic until this was torn down about 1977.

There is a speaker addressing the crowd of people in front and one can notice soldiers in uniform and dignitaries seated behind the speaker. Flags displayed on the second story. Ivy covers the walls. Four columns in the front. The address of City Hall was 3 N. First Avenue, as listed in the city directory.
