House at 180 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia, located just north of the municipal athletic field adjacent to Arcadia City Hall. It was part of the Le Meridien hotel land but is being sold Salvation Army and moving to Pasadena. In the year 2000 this was the location of Oakcrest Adult Rehabilitation Center. In this photo, notice its house numbers in disrepair. See document "State Wars on Bookies." A house at 180 West Huntington Drive in Arcadia was raided and four men were arrested who were using binoculars to catch the race results and flashing them to bookmakers throughout the nation. Santa Anita School Mrs. Rutherford's fifth grade classroom photo by Thompson Photo Service, Los Angeles (from the envelope which has been discarded). The school was located at 1900 South Santa Anita Avenue from about 1950 until June, 1981. In 1982, Arcadia Christian School moved in to this location. This photograph was published in the Arcadia Tribune, August 20, 1956 with the caption: Here comes mama--By all indications from this picture, it looks as if the children weren't the only ones who were having a good time at the recent Arcadia Recreation Department city-wide track meet. The Tribune camera caught Mrs. Mary Turner as she broke the tape in the "feature" race of the afternoon. Running a close second in the event is Mrs. John Panatier followed across the finish line by Mrs. Lucas.
