Note training track called Anita Chiquita has been added (lower left corner), open grandstand has been added to west of covered stand. Note, too, that work has begun to change Balloon School site to Arcadia County Park. Santa Anita Avenue is tree-lined street running entire width of photo about middle of print.
Aerial view looking north over flooded Santa Anita Wash looking upstream. Street cutting across photo closest to bottom is Huntington Drive. The next crossing upstream carries Santa Fe Railroad track. The last crossing that is clearly visible is Pacific Electric Railroad bridge. North/south street crossing Huntington Drive nearest wash would be Fifth Avenue. Foothill Boulevard is just barely visible near top of photo.
Aerial view of City Hall at 240 W. Huntington Drive looking SE across maintenance buildings for Arcadia County Park as well as the park itself in the distance.
Aerial view of large group of people, many on horses, apparently taking part in either an informal rodeo, or possibly a horse sale. This appears to be intersection of Las Tunas and Temple City Blvd. Building seen at top of photo is probably Vernon's Pharmacy of Temple City, located on NW corner of this intersection. There is a companion photo to this photo, #643. Vera Van Iaawarden, who lives in Temple City, says her father believes this was a balloon ascension.
Aerial view of Ross Field looking east from a position of about Huntington Drive and present Holly Avenue. Two large hangars are at west point of triangular property. The wash cutting across foreground is the wash just to west of present high school.
Aerial view of what appears to be either an informal horse show or possible horse sale with a great number of people in attendance. The location has been identified as near intersection of Las Tunas Drive and (with what seem to be railroad tracks in center) Temple City Boulevard. The building (we see only roof) in the lower left corner is Vernon's Pharmacy. The letters VGS can be seen over front entry. There are probably about 100 autos parked nearby. (There is another photo of this event, #539.)
Aerial view south from Chantry Flats Road over the still-developing upper Highlands section of Arcadia. View is across Arcadia toward the Puente Hills. Santa Anita Park Race Track is seen in the center. Santa Anita Wash is seen on extreme left.
Aerial view south on Baldwin Avenue. From position just north of Huntington Drive (during racing season) showing great number of cars coming east on Huntington Drive to races through Gate #1. One building in Santa Anita Park Race Track parking lot is Fire Station at 630 S. Baldwin Avenue. Duarte Road is distantly seen in upper portion of photo, about 1 1/4 in. from top of photo. The multi-storied Medical Building seen is at 612 W. Duarte Road.
Aerial view taken from about over what became Campus Drive and Arcadia High School, and looking toward (NW) Pasadena and Sierra Madre at foot of San Gabriel Mountains. Photo shows Santa Anita Park Race Track possibly just a few years after opening.
