Aerial view looking north over flooded Santa Anita Wash looking upstream. Street cutting across photo closest to bottom is Huntington Drive. The next crossing upstream carries Santa Fe Railroad track. The last crossing that is clearly visible is Pacific Electric Railroad bridge. North/south street crossing Huntington Drive nearest wash would be Fifth Avenue. Foothill Boulevard is just barely visible near top of photo.

Aerial view looking south over Santa Anita Race Track on a day of very heavy attendance. The floral plantings which form designs in the in-field are shown clearly. Also seen are: the clubhouse, the stables, and the training track. These latter were either moved or done away with to make way for the Fashion Park. Main gate was at NE corner of Huntington Drive and Baldwin, which was not cut through at that time. This photo belongs to the Huntington Library. It is shown here for research only.

One building in Santa Anita Park Race Track parking lot is Fire Station at 630 S. Baldwin Avenue. Duarte Road is distantly seen in upper portion of photo, about 1 1/4 in. from top of photo. Arcadia City Council has put out a design contract for landscaping and streetscape design on Baldwin Avenue between Duarte Road and Naomi Avenue. The contract went to Willdan, not to exceed $64,410. Another project proposes widening of the street to four lanes, 75 feet from curb to curb, with landscaped median, curb parking and additional landscaping, along with street resurfacing, to cost $380,000.

The Burnell estate is shown, heavily covered with what appears to be ivy growing one side of the front of the house. This was the home of George Edwin Burnell, author, lecturer and philosopher. The estate was built 1910-1912 and razed in 1961. It was located at 290 West Foothill Blvd., and encompassed 7 acres.

In this aerial view looking toward the east, the oval directly in the center of photo was a training track belonging to Santa Anita. This was removed to make room for the Fashion Park mall. The small circular track across what is now Baldwin Avenue and the oval track farther south belonged to a private riding stable. The remains of the Los Angeles Jockey Club Track which Joe Smoot and Anita Baldwin started but did not complete in 1933, can be seen in lower right corner. This photo belongs to the Huntington Library. It is shown here for research only.

Baldwin. The new building under construction here on S.E. corner apparently at 1200 S. Baldwin was for the Bank of Italy National Trust & Savings according to 1928 City Directory.
