A 16-year old boy was in custody Saturday after leading Irwindale police on a chase in a stolen car that ended when his vehicle collided with another car, killing its driver, 32-year-old Michael Lam of Monterey Park.
22-year-old Miguel Fernandez of Arcadia was thrown from the back of a pickup truck and killed when the truck careened out of control and flipped upside down at the intersection of Del Mar Boulevard and Hill Avenue.

An armed man barricaded himself in his trailer at Santa Anita Village mobile home park in a daylong standoff ending with the man's shooting. His name was not released, and he was taken to the local hospital.
Sixty-four year old Fuzhi Ji and his two-year-old grandson died after a hit and run accident at Santa Anita Avenue and Bonita Street left them with fatal injuries.

A woman pedestrian was critically injured in a hit and run and an Arcadia police officer suffered injuries in a second mishap, both in heavy traffic outside Santa Anita Park. The female victim also suffered the theft of her purse just minutes before the auto mishap.
Family, friends and customers at Chef's Coffee Shop are mourning the death of the man they called Grandpa. Gerhard Seltman was struck and killed by a pickup truck. His son, Bob Seltman, owns Chef's Coffee Shop.

A South Korean fugitive named Bae Chang-kul was captured in Arcadia and has been returned to his native country, where he is accused of stealing $37 million from his company's account in January 2003. The 48-year-old has been living in Arcadia with a long-expired visa.
Tranquility of Arcadia disrupted by barricaded gunman. Arcadia Police officer and two civilians wounded when police responded to a domestic violence call in the 2500 block of Greenfield Avenue in Arcadia. The suspect Nurhan Venk, 47, allegedly shot the Arcadia police officer in the face, allegedly shot his 73-year-old mother Ankine Venk. A stray bullet hit an 83-year-old man across the street.
