Aerial view looking east across Santa Anita Park taken from a position just west of Baldwin Avenue, which is seen at bottom of photo. Huntington Drive appears exactly in center of photo just east of race track. The 210 Foothill Freeway enters area in upper right portion of picture and exits at left side in upper left portion.
Aerial view looking south over Santa Anita Race Track on a day of very heavy attendance. The floral plantings which form designs in the in-field are shown clearly. Also seen are: the clubhouse, the stables, and the training track. These latter were either moved or done away with to make way for the Fashion Park. Main gate was at NE corner of Huntington Drive and Baldwin, which was not cut through at that time. This photo belongs to the Huntington Library. It is shown here for research only.

It shows Santa Anita Fashion Park (currently known as Westfield Santa Anita Shopping Mall) developed by and on property owned by Santa Anita Consolidated. The Santa Anita Park Race Track and club house can be seen in center of photo. The straight white line about one inch above the club house roof is 210 Foothill Freeway. Aerial view toward SW from position just north of Santa Anita Race Track with large crowd in attendance. View shows planting design on the infield, the clubhouse, and to the west, the former training track belonging to Santa Anita. This and stables were removed or relocated to make room for the Fashion Park. Baldwin Avenue was not cut through at this time. This photo belongs to the Huntington Library. It is shown here for research only.
Aerial view south on Baldwin Avenue. From position just north of Huntington Drive (during racing season) showing great number of cars coming east on Huntington Drive to races through Gate #1. One building in Santa Anita Park Race Track parking lot is Fire Station at 630 S. Baldwin Avenue. Duarte Road is distantly seen in upper portion of photo, about 1 1/4 in. from top of photo. The multi-storied Medical Building seen is at 612 W. Duarte Road.
View of Santa Anita Race Track and Grandstand looking west. There are twelve horses and riders racing and the grandstand appears to be nearly full. (Date is disputed to be after 1955, not 1950, per researcher race track historian Leonard Wynne, who says the inner track part, known as the "Turf Course" was put in during 1955. The inner track part is not where the horses are seen running.)
Aerial view taken over Arcadia so that it shows a large area surrounding Arcadia as well as the entire city. Clearly seen is the Santa Anita Park Race Track, and the Arcadia County Park (shown as a dark triangle in center), and the 210 Foothill Freeway crossing photo from west to east and passing north of Santa Anita Park Race Track.
Aerial view east on Huntington Drive toward Arcadia from a position just west of Rosemead Boulevard. El Rancho Shopping Center and May Company Department Store can be seen as the business complex on the north side of Huntington Drive one block east of Rosemead Boulevard. Santa Anita Park Race Track can be seen on the left in upper portion of photo.
In this aerial view looking toward the east, the oval directly in the center of photo was a training track belonging to Santa Anita. This was removed to make room for the Fashion Park mall. The small circular track across what is now Baldwin Avenue and the oval track farther south belonged to a private riding stable. The remains of the Los Angeles Jockey Club Track which Joe Smoot and Anita Baldwin started but did not complete in 1933, can be seen in lower right corner. This photo belongs to the Huntington Library. It is shown here for research only.
Aerial view south on Colorado Street just over large turn to the west. The residential area known as Santa Anita Gardens shows along upper left section of photo. Note that the only commerical development along the north side of Colorado Street is the Westerner Motel just near intersection with Huntington Drive. Santa Fe Railroad tracks are seen in lower left corner of photo. Santa Anita Park Race Track is on right.
Aerial view toward east of Santa Anita Race Track with enormous crowd. It may possibly be opening day or shortly thereafter judging by small size of trees planted along edge of property.
View west on Huntington Drive from above intersection with Baldwin during rush hour race traffic coming to track. Note Pacific Electric Tracks have been removed but right-of-way has not been reworked.
Santa Anita Race Track seen from a distance. View is toward the north. The San Gabriel mountains are visible behind the track. Cars are parked in the parking lot.
