"100 Years of Good Health, Happiness, and Prosperity," Arcadia's float entry in the 2003 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade. Back view featuring a flowering tree and the tail feathers of a peacock.
"100 Years of Good Health, Happiness, and Prosperity," Arcadia's float entry in the 2003 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade. Side view showing the Queen Anne Cottage and peacock. Riders standing on ground, left to right: Black Hawk pilot, Captain Jon Shafer representing local service men and women; Nicholas Campbell, Dr. Bradford Hack, and Dawn Pejsar representing Methodist Hospital; Lane Barcham and Alison Chien representing local children.
About fourteen women pose on a couple of bowling lanes. There is one man in the center. Two of the women look like they are about to release their bowling balls.
"A Day at the Fair," Arcadia's 1969 float entry in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, featured spectators in the grandstand cheering, horses speeding down the homestretch during a day of racing at the fair. In front is a floral fountain. In the center is a revolving tableau with a peacock. A framed copy of this removed from wall outside Admin. office and currently stored in map case in basement, as of February 2017.
Aerial view looking east along Huntington Drive taken over the Club House at Santa Anita Park Race Track. Pony Express Museum is just to right of the "y" intersection of Huntington Drive coming into Arcadia just below the wing of the plane. Theater that was opened in 1942 is almost directly opposite Museum. Santa Anita Motor Inn, two buildings east of theater, distinguished by tall tower, opened in 1938. (It was torn down in 1975.) The residential area directly north of there is known as Santa Anita Gardens. Santa Anita Avenue is just beyond Arcadia County Park on right.
Aerial view looking south over Santa Anita Race Track on a day of very heavy attendance. The floral plantings which form designs in the in-field are shown clearly. Also seen are: the clubhouse, the stables, and the training track. These latter were either moved or done away with to make way for the Fashion Park. Main gate was at NE corner of Huntington Drive and Baldwin, which was not cut through at that time. This photo belongs to the Huntington Library. It is shown here for research only.
Aerial view of large group of people, many on horses, apparently taking part in either an informal rodeo, or possibly a horse sale. This appears to be intersection of Las Tunas and Temple City Blvd. Building seen at top of photo is probably Vernon's Pharmacy of Temple City, located on NW corner of this intersection. There is a companion photo to this photo, #643. Vera Van Iaawarden, who lives in Temple City, says her father believes this was a balloon ascension.
Aerial view of what appears to be either an informal horse show or possible horse sale with a great number of people in attendance. The location has been identified as near intersection of Las Tunas Drive and (with what seem to be railroad tracks in center) Temple City Boulevard. The building (we see only roof) in the lower left corner is Vernon's Pharmacy. The letters VGS can be seen over front entry. There are probably about 100 autos parked nearby. (There is another photo of this event, #539.)
Aerial view taken over Arcadia so that it shows a large area surrounding Arcadia as well as the entire city. Clearly seen is the Santa Anita Park Race Track, and the Arcadia County Park (shown as a dark triangle in center), and the 210 Foothill Freeway crossing photo from west to east and passing north of Santa Anita Park Race Track.
Aerial view toward NE. Main thoroughfare cutting across east to west with young trees planted on north side, is Huntington Drive. Main race track at Santa Anita is seen almost directly in center of photo, with Club House on side closest to camera. The smaller oval near left edge of photo was a training track belonging to Santa Anita which was removed for the Fashion Park. The Chantry Flats Road up to Santa Anita Canyon is clearly seen as it zig-zags around San Gabriel Mountains. This photo belongs to the Huntington Library. It is shown here for research only.
Airport scene taken at the Arboretum. Airplane on left and part of hangar visible on right. A number of people are standing around by the hangar. Handwritten note on back of photo states, "The plane taking off from landing field just west of Rancho Santa Anita Park in 'Safari'."
Another back view of abandoned caboose of a train. Train is marked with Pine Bluff SP 151 (clearer in photo 2258A). Looking northeast on train tracks near First Avenue, between Santa Clara Street and Saint Joseph Street in Arcadia, California. A building on First Avenue, north of the tracks, is barely visible in the background, middle left of photo. Photo by Terry Miller.

Approximately 8 horsemen apparently involved in a roping competition. There are grand stands in the background. Back of card indicates this was on the Old Lucky Baldwin track in what is now Arcadia County Park. (Club House had burned)
Arcadia High School Marching Band playing in President Dwight Eisenhower's inauguration parade in Washington, D.C. Band Director at this time was Ray Bowman. He is seen marching at left (next to motorcycle). The U.S. Capitol Dome is seen at the head of Constitution Avenue.
